This is at the perfect stage of evolution with a combination of youthful black cherry fruit that contrasts against the more aged elements of tobacco, leather and fig. The classic anise laced herbs seen in Tuscany add a beautiful fragrance. The complexity is impressive with minerals and chalk adding additional layers. I think this is an outstanding wine and if you have it, drink now.

This was punching way over its weight. Wow. My note from 2012 could have been written tonight, and even the snobbiest chiantiophiles out there, if they tasted this blind, would have admired it.

(BOSSI Chianti Classico) Crossover Dear Friends, The term "crossover" has become one of the more widely used catch-phrases for almost anything in our society - everything from SUV's to country music have been saddled with the term and we even have cross-trainers as shoes. There are times when I wonder if we are actually crossing over into new territory or dangerously digging deeper into a world that bridges two opposites and pulls them closer to a more homogenous middle? In wine, the term usually signifies a vinous example that contains traditional and modern elements in one package - something like LÄoville Las Cases or Solaia. Tonight, a deal came over the wire that is undoubtedly going to cause Niki an early January headache - a true crossover at a price that is downright ridiculous for the vintage and the quality. Wine has been produced on the estate of Castello di Bossi for 750-900 years (depending on the document you read). It is one of the oldest acknowledged continuous wine growing estates in Italy. Known for Sangiovese with a modern flair, they delve for tradition within the modernity in their Chianti Classico and the 2006 is going to make a lot of friends in a hurry. From a great year (think 2006 Rancia, 2006 Fontalloro and a host of other successes from the Berardenga sub-region), this is an early contender for price/value star of the season. If you enjoy Chianti Classico but also don't mind a lovely glass of something like Galatrona every once in a while, this is your wine...en masse: ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price. This parcel has impeccable provenance directly from the source: 2006 Castello di Bossi Chianti Classico Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy3497

Decent Chianti. Probably past its prime a bit, but far from dead. Nothing too dramatic
