At Takamura Wine and Coffee Osaka. By the glass. Suprisingly still tannic on the palate. Mouth watering acidity. Okay but not great, just okay is not okay in this case with the steep pricing.

Opened first of my 3 to make sure not getting over the hill. It's not. 3 hour audoze and it still has good tannin. Beautiful big aromas and pinot flavors. There is a decent touch of oak so age will help from that front. Pretty light on its feet for a California but it does have a touch of the New world Pinot sappiness. It has very transparent sweet favors that with the oak and tannin going away in time may be very interesting. As bottle develops aromas explode more but taste is more singular and sappy so I am interested what time will do. Very balanced for California and I think in 5 years it will open up and potentially be 2-4 points higher.

The winemaker who brought this to our dinner commented the fruit was from the Sanford & Benedict Vineyard and the wine was made from whole clusters; in fact, he stated the best wines he`s made have been from whole clusters; this is a beauty; very complex with lots of depth; full body, full on expression; power and finesse at its best.
