  • I had low expectations for this wine after reading Keith Levenberg's note. I had a similar experience with a romorantin from about the same time. Not sure of the producer. I attributed the flaw to some sort of flawed fermentation (secondary or otherwise) and not to oxidation.
This turned out to be a decent wine. Not great. But I'm not sorry I bought it.
There was something just a little off about the wine. I can't quite put my finger on it. Dark gold in color. It was minerally but it was also like the acidity did quite finish normally. It was also slightly saline and I got a little bit of quinine. Slightly off dry. The finish was good.
I love romorantin but I wouldn't hold this up as a stellar example. But the wine was still moderately enjoyable. My expectations were much lower. A Lous/Dressner import.

  • If this were a white Burgundy, you'd call it prematurely oxidized and pour it down the sink. Because it isn't, you give it another chance, and despite the oxidative profile with its deep yellow/orange color and flavors of candy corn, it's a pleasant wine with a creaminess that smooths over some of its more challenging aspects.
