This Estate Merlot could pass for a Cabernet in a blind tasting, raspberry fruits, smooth, polished, elegant, sweet, tones of mocha, sweet spicy oak, hints of dusty rose floral, and black tea on a smooth firm but silky smooth tannin finish. This must be at its prime right now - I can't imagine it being better in its youth or with more age.
Lots of red fruit on the nose, with a bit of a red and black fruit mix on the palate. Very sharp tannins on the back end, but that softened up after the first day.

Expedition Wines American Homegrown: nose: elegant nose of mixed berries, blueberries, red cherries, and nice plush tones of red and black currants. there is a nice plushness to the nose with some good depth
taste: plush and elegant medium feel with round tones of mixed berries, red cherries, and red currants. Expressive with nice depth and silky tannins
overall: a real lovely merlot right now with the tannins to back it up. Very good polish and weight there is a nice classy feel to this wine
