One of the few wines from Colonial Estate I've had that does not suffer from being ponderous, where the heaviness suffocates brightness, vivacity, and freshness, akin to someone's butt sitting on your face. The nose is laced with inviting rather than mushy fruit. The tannin is actually drying instead of being sticky tar. The acidity makes the wine self-cleaning instead of being cloying. The alcohol is barely noticeable rather than leaving a burn everywhere. Blackberry and black currant make the wine delicious. Overall, a big, smooth, and concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon that is delightfully enjoyable, that could pass for being from Howell Mountain or Spring Mountain in Napa California.

Fat, unctuous lacking acid. Round disjointed and at times grapey. Hot. Perhaps flawed from external sources, but weird that it would be just the one bottle. I think this was prematurely aged and crashing.

(Colonial Estate Etranger Cabernet Sauvignon) #2; COLOR-dark; NOSE-very over-extracted with boysenberry; mulberry; blueberry; a little cigar; a little slinkiness; big wine; PALATE-big bold New World wine; some serious Oak Monster coming through, but the tannic structure does hold this together and give some balance and elegance; good finish; great viscosity; Cab lovers would like this; especially Silver Oak fans; nice kirsch play on the finish; very big, but contained itself nicely; JR-91; GV-89+

Mouthfilling blackcurrant and cherry flavours. Plum and and a hint of mint on the finish. Solid.

Slightly subdued fruit component from prior tastings, but still delicious.

Consistant with prior tastings. Drinking very well now. Loving this wine! Sadly, only two left after this.
