Youthful colour. N: Very aromatic. Dominant in floral aromas and the smell of new oak barrels (vanillin, strangely also ripe banana). Almost a heady, bourbon-like aroma here. This gives way to some earthiness and cherry fruit that flips between fresh and dried. P: classic drying tannins, very firm. Palate shows much more depth, with meat, tea, tar rather than the oak of the nose. Full bodied. Very very long finish where all the elements come together. Undoubtedly modernist in approach, but full of nuance too. In its drinking window but no rush to drink up here.

Decanted for at least an hour, but it is still very alive and probably a bit closed still. Solid fruit, great tannic structure and lots of subtle notes. Excellent pairing for a high end northern Italy dinner.

Sensual, sweetly floral, even tender on the nose, and that carried through onto the palate, which was charming, added a savoury sundried tomato note, and so addictive. Any trace of barrique is now integrated into the exquisite Nebbiolo fruit - simply gorgeous. I enjoyed this on its own, but it would be great with some hearty Italian food - indeed, it seemed to get more tannic with time in the glass.

Decanted for over an hour and still needed time. On 2nd night -Pretty nose of sweet cherry, lavender, flowers, potpourri, herbs and menthol. There's a warm roundness to the fruit with good lively acidity and a medium + herbal finish - doesn't quite all come together on the back. Wait a few more years if you prefer more pronounced secondary and tertiary notes in your Barolo but it is beautiful right now.
