  • Caroline Wine Shop - White Blends (Carolines Wine Shop): (Tasted Blind) Yellow straw colour, the aromas are pineapple, crushed nuts, leesy notes, oatmeal and lightly grilled toast. With a slight hint of oxidation, the wine is more towards the funky side with yoghurt notes from a full MLF and lots of leesy oats on the palate entry. A noted woody character permeates the wine, leading to grilled pineapple on toast, resinous encased fruits and nuts.
The SO2 levels are low, and it spends 12 to 14 months on its lees. It feels a little forced, with the fruity flavours hidden from view. Vibrant acid and a long finish compensate somewhat. Chenin Viognier and chardonnay mix, mostly Chardonnay 13.5% alcohol

  • Anthonij Rupert South African Wines (Denise Tanglin): Kind of closed up with singular grapey-ness. Detected some osthmanthus and orange peels on the fore and mid with bright and decent pleasant finish. The label doesn't tell much but I think it is chardonay with some chenin and viognier, which is supposed to give it a lifted nose but did not do so in this effort. However, this was the best of the lot among the whites.
