  • The touch of sweetness is nice, but it floats on top of... not much. Acid is a bit harsh on finish.

    Drink up, won't improve.

    10%ABV, sealed with screwcap

  • I've always worried that this wine was over-rated. This bottle tonight confirmed it, unless it is going to magically transform with more age - well we shall see.

For now it lacks concentration, lacks Riesling flavour, the unnatural acid sits against a bit of sweetness which might be exotic for those used to bone dry Australian Rieslings but that doesn't make it great.

I very much doubt it will age with distinction. Drink now.

Sealed with screw cap. 10% ABV.

PS just looked up the Halliday review where he gave it 95 points (in its youth!) and said it would age for 20+ years. Hmm, well, personal taste I guess. Or another case of Halliday using a very generous point scale for the local market.

  • Second time I've had this with food, thai/vietnamese this time and as expected it absolutely rocked. The chilli and soy/sesame of the dish just crackled away and sang under the sweetness and acidity of the wine. Much better with food than on its own.

  • A 'medium sweet' style Riesling given the rather cheeky 'K.S.' name - inscribed with Germanic lettering. Pale lemon yellow in the glass. On the nose - freshly cut limes, meadow flowers and peach blossom. Medium dry on the palate but with crisp, lively acidity providing ample foil. Light-bodied (with only 10% alcohol) but with good fruit concentration. The finish becomes dry with chalky, mineral tones and a touch of spice emerging. This is a very good, refreshing wine that provides a different take on Riesling from Clare Valley. Drinking now but should develop nicely over the next 5 years.
