  • Tatsted during a presentation of a book about Greek wines, as one of the author's favorites.
Sorry, I do not share his opinion, and after the presentation I found out that most attendees neither did.
This winery, located in Central Greece, specializes in international grape varietals, like Sauvignon Blanc for whites and Syrah for reds. The Syrah Collection is the winery's luxury cuvee, made from low yield fruit from a tiny vineyard, hence production is very low, around 500 bottlles a year. It is priced around 50 Euros a bottle, an extremely high price for the region.
    Now coming to the wine:
Dark garnet with a few purple hues. The nose is not very expressive and shows aromas of overripe, jammy black fruits and sweet oak. The palate is full-bodied and too sweet(ish) with almost no tannins, jammy fruit and low acidity that fails to offer balance. Totally nerveless. Already past its prime, which is not acceptable for a wine of this price tag.

  • Great syrah to rival the Aussies. Made in small numbers and with a lot of care. Deep Red colour with very well balanced. Wanted more nose to tell you the truth and maybe some more complexity.
    Will NOT dissapoint .

For the record - the 2004 is disappointing, the 2003 amazing but probably impossible to find...
