Italian Wines at WFA (Wine For Asia 2008 @ Suntec): Purple. Burnt caramel and dessicated coconut come on the frontal nasal attack followed by layered aromas of lower tone blackforest cake, dark violets, blackberries and dark choc. The nose reminds me of a good aussie shiraz. However, the difference with aussie shirazes is the clean acidity of blackberries that make it a lively and tasty effort without the alc burn. Very fresh, young and lovely on the palate with a brambly finish.

WFA Italian Wines; 10/16/2008-10/18/2008 (Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore): What an interesting wine made from two native grapes, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. Nice nose of caramelised soy, smoky meat and a bit of spice. The palate was nicely balanced with fresh acid and mouth-coating acid, upon which rested a touch of black fruit and some licorice which started emerging from the mid-palate into the decent finish.

Tangerine, strawberries. Light as Pinot Noir but fuller, high tannins, deeper.
