  • Decanted for one hour. This is in lovely shape and the best bottle I have had of this. Lovely floral nose with hints of wet stones. The palate is medium to full bodied, with flavors of red cherry, herbs and spice. This wine still has a fair amount of energy, concentration and power so I think this is just in the early stages of maturity and could continue to improve.

  • It was my 2nd favourite wine among thw 10 VR tasting wines. A good expression of dark fruits, spice and herbs, with medium body and fair structure but I thought it was peak now. The brick colour shown the vintage but the aroma faded soon after an hour. Drink up now.

  • Slow oxed for an hour. Excellent nose of black cherry and brambles. The wine is medium to full bodied still showing a fair amount of structure although the tannins are becoming better integrated. There is ripe black cherry, raspberry, herbs and spice in a delicious palate with a long finish. This is not the most complex wine (yet) and it has many years ahead of it in my opinion.

  • Dipped during two hour decant

Thick, coiled nose of muted dark fruit, spice, anise and a touch of heat. Broad shouldered with tight tannins, thick body and moderate tight finish. Needs way more time in decanter, or years in the cellar, or its beginning to unravel a bit.

Day 2: half a bottle left; nose has relaxed a bit but still hugely tannic and closed. Not sure this ever improves

  • Decanted an hour. It wasn’t ready. Decanted another hour and a half. It was still very tight with strong tannin. This wine needs more time in the cellar to show its best but it is clearly high quality with powerful black and red fruit, olives and herbs framed by a big structure and long finish.
