Bricked garnet with medium viscosity in the glass. Incense nose of stewed plum, fresh strawberry, dusty blueberry, raspberry, BBQ, black currant, pipe tobacco, earth and a hint of truffle. Full body, rich and persistent with toasted oak, stewed blackberry/plummy fruits, strawberry Fruit Roll-Up, herbs, BBQ, bacon, scorched earth and truffle on the palate. Big, complex and harmonious. Showing in its youth still with all the benefits of cellar age. Long, long smokey finish. Wipes the floor with hight three-figure and low four-figure bottles.

Torres Tasting (Grande Bretagne Hotel, Athens): Clear completely evolved brick red color. Clean, med/med+ intensity, the nose is complex and peculiar with oak notes, dried blackcurrant, date, cinnamon, nutmeg, fully developed of course. The wine is dry, medium body and intensity m-, the acidity is medium- as well, alcohol is medium, tannins dissolved completely, utter balance, sweet overall, coffee beans, currant, dates, oak layer, (soy sauce hints?), med finish. Outstanding quality, premium price, fantastic matured character.

"That 70s Show" Rioja Tasting with Helio San Miguel (Instituto Cervantes, NY): Medium to deep brownish color, orangy rim, somewhat cloudy. On the nose, somewhat musty with foresty, herbal notes, a touch of menthol. Medium bodied on the palate, earthy and grippy, almost explosive in the mouth. Very intriguing wine. GR #7, My #2.

Miguel Torres Masterclass and Mas La Plana Mini Vertical (Grande Bretagne Hotel, Athens, Greece): Medium brick with brownish hues. Particular nose with jamon, spices and soy. Medium-bodied with soft tannins, nicely preserved but fading fruit, good balance and length. Overall this is a very nicely aged wine, past its best but still offering drinking pleasure.
