3 cm from cork fill; stood upright for days; pristine label; excellent capsule; cork soaked and removed in pieces; poured into decanter with strainer and no large chunks of sediment; 3/4 teaspoon of fine sediment; definitely orange tint throughout; almost a '77 Dow's Vintage Port nose but without the alcohol. Decanted for 30 minutes before dinner. On the palate beautiful sweet and long red fruit tannins and a bit like a well aged vintage Port (without the alcohol), a nice but not overbearing acidity that is best with food, layers of elegant sweet Oak, dried herbs and some spice. Finish is 30 seconds. The wine actually improved a little the course of the dinner - no fading in the slightest. A wonderful birthday treat. An extra 1.5 points for its ageworthiness to get to 94.

SAG (Blind) Tasting (Chez Weber - Chicago IL): Blind tasting. Incredibly elegant from first sniff. Aromas of earth, smoky red fruit and good spice. Flavor was mostly mushrooms and some roasted meat. Spice reappeared on the finish. This was just lovely, charming and incredibly interesting from the beginning through its long finish.
