Bought on auction recently. Medium amber gold. Floral notes, dried lemon, dried apricot, dried apple, pineapple, beeswax, light honey, tea, light spice, and signs of bottle age, with lively acidity and good length. Some residual sugar, yet the wine finishes chalky and dry, even lightly bitter after some aeration. Evolved, and slightly oxidized, but still very enjoyable. Food-friendly. Drink up. 90(-)

Retail $50. I bought 5 bottles of this wine fro Cinderella way back in 2012 and this was the last bottle from that purchase. While tasty and fantastic, this wine is clearly, well, a bit tired. Well past golden and onto amber in the glass with citrus, apple, and a decided oxidized note, this has that "Yes, it is old, but there is still plenty to appreciate here" kinda vibe. Much more of the same on the palate and while I have downgraded this (at least in terms of points) from previous bottles, it is still pretty fantastic.
Retail $50. Single vineyard field blend of Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc. Deiss touts this as a Premier Cru, which means basically nothing in Alsace. Well, perhaps it should based on this wine. It has been a couple of years since I have opened a bottle, but I would venture to say it has improved. Sure, the golden--even amber--color causes some concern, but the lovely, rich nose of ripe peach, tropical fruit, and honeysuckle allays those fears almost instantly. The palate, while touched by a kiss of sweetness, is gorgeous with weighty fruit, balancing acidity and incredible depth. And the finish here is off the charts. Whoa.
Seeing as I still have four of these left, I thought it was time to pop another. I was honestly worried by the rich golden color, but there are no signs of oxidation on the nose. Rather, there are aromas of yellow apple, lanolin, and a smidge of petrol. Initially, there is a healthy dose of acidity on the palate, followed by some faded fruit, the weighty lanolin, and a touch of sweetness. Very nice. thedrunkencyclist.com
