Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • When visiting White Rose one winter a couple of years back, the young hostess (since departed) pronounced with an ominous grimace that the '06s were "falling off the table." Later that year I was able to establish the fallacy in her statement and today can confirm with even greater conviction that '06 is doing quite fine some ten years on.

While I am now down to only three, I hope I can extract enjoyment from the remainder of this less celebrated vintage. Well if the Hand Select is anything to go by I have great optimism. In Dulcie's words, this was fabulous. I don't disagree.

A paling rim an indicator of age while the aroma is promiscuous and heady. Try getting that out of a Russian River I dare you. Gorgeous ripe fruit on the palate with abundant minerality, medium acid, very soft tannins, long finish.

    For $46 I want more...
