  • Lots of leather, some VA and brown sugar on the nose. Swarthy appearance, with browning on the edge. Hollow mid-palate. I suspect something else made it in here.

  • Clear red ruby in the glass. A beautiful but much lighter nose than the '52 and even '47 enjoyed alongside. Red cherry, light tan leathers, and ripe strawberries with powdered sugar. Palate has good red cherry fruit power. Not as crazy intricate as the first two but still quite spectacular, still complex and amazing. Hookah tobacco, mature / drying red cherry, red apple and baking cherry compote. Would love to seek out more of these and enjoy them immediately.

  • 375 format. Again a knockout wine. Similar in style to the Gevrey. More red fruited. Big big complex perfume of sous bois, red fruits, minerals. Savory notes. Somewhat tart, but still enough fruit to balance the acidity. A very long finish, that seemed to last for a minute.

  • Distinctive nose of tea leaves, dried fruits, rose petal and coffee with some tangy blood orange hints in between waves of savory, sous-bois aromas. Very long and fine on the palate with immense detail and interest coming through on the finish. There is some kind of dried sweet-tart/citrus candy element that pops and becomes more involved about half way through the finish mixed subtle and elegant woodland, truffle and meaty flavors. 92-93
