What a surprise! Kept in pristine condition, the bottle is just a lovely, classic claret. The nose is expressive with notes of cedar, cassis, and underearth fantastically blended with mineral notes of pencil lead and wet gravel. As the wine opens up, the classic matured and toasted oak aromas gain in intensity. On the palate, this is full of cassis and cedar on the attack, acidity is fresh, almost lively, and the tannins are firm and display the classic Médoc texture. The finish is long, cedary, almost cigar box, and finishes with a bit of musrooms. Fruit, balance and texture are the three words that come to mind. Surprisingly fruity and much to the credit of the winemaker, Renzo Cottarella ! Coming from a anti-fan of Bordeaux, this 91 pts is something for such a modest wine. Nonetheless, others around the table went up to 93 ... So I am comfortable with my understatement.

Nose of bright red fruit - raspberries and a hint of mint. Raspberries and jam on the attack but fades quickly and offers little structure or firmness. Although a pleasant enough wine now, I think it has passed it's peak and is getting a little thin.

Savory bacon fat and smoke nose. Smoke, plum, cedar with a faint hint of milk chocolate. A little time open and I believe this may be past is prime. A little gamy and metallic now.

Some very nice cassis and a hint of French wood.
It's a medium bodied very refined wine with a lot still fresh red fruits
