Nice to open a bottle with a good cork... Top shoulder fill level. The cork didn't inspire confidence but was at least not a TCA source. Fairly evolved hue as you would expect from sangiovese. Beautiful nose: great complexity combining over-ripe evolved fruit, spices, tobacco, cedar and leather. Tannins fully resolved but they have held the wine together nicely. Great mouthfeel, length and finish. Chianti doesn't get much better than this.. Drink over the next few years.

First of three bottles. This one had a mid-shoulder fill with clear signs of seepage. The others look much better. Clear signs of oxidation. While still pleasant, this wine was going the soy sauce route a little faster than expected. The mushroom, forest floor components were also there. I expect the other bottles to be fairly spectacular.

Tasted blind. Medium-ruby color with clear signs of brick and orange. Aged notes of fading red fruit and flowers, mushroom, underwood, also some graphite. It‘s medium-lighter bodied, with pretty low tannin that has melted away and still pretty accented medium-high acidity. Good length. A wine that is fading, but still very fascinating to drink.
