The first thing I noticed after opening the bottle was a foam plastic cork. This was a bit of a surprise as I don't recall this winery using plastic corks in any of their vintages I have tried recently.
This wine was tasting good on day one, but seemed as if it still needed more time to open and integrate, so I corked it back up and put it away for another day.
On the next day, the wine opened up and was tasting much better...
The nose was rich with a lot of leather and sweet tobacco notes
The taste was thick, full and deep with blackberry and plum flavors dominating the palate
The finish was medium in length and semi-dry with raspberry and cherry flavors, alternating on the palate as they slowly faded
In conclusion, this is definitely ready to drink now, but given the way it held up and improved overnight, I would think it can last quite a while longer in the cellar (maybe another year, or possibly two)

Definitely in the "very good" camp, solid blend, smooth with medium short finish, solid fruit flavors but not much of a nose and medium to short finish.

Popped & poured. This wine needed a bit of time to open up, a little tight at first. We had this with BBQ burgers, baked beans and chips. Paired very well. Full and rich with raspberry and slight smoke. Good finish. Interestingly, it paired very well with the salt & vinegar chips. The acidity stood up to them.

This wine might have a year or two left. At first I was scared, so I ran my glass through an aerator...."OMG"

Plent of current with hints of dark chocolate. Pretty bold with soft tannins. A good claret style wine and a good value.
