  • Drank at Picotin Restaurant with hearty bœuf bourguignon.
A slight inky red. Colour and rim looks advance for its age.
Charming oak and cedar nose backed with spicy red fruits. Clean. Touch of wintergreen, which is nice.
Bitter tart entry. Light bodied but grates the tongue. Austere and upright on the palate. The acid is strong with this one. Fruits seem darker in the mouth with unfolding minerality. Firm and dryer than expected tannins for a Pinot Noir. Dusty finish of black tea leaves, cherries and blueberries.
Good village but definitely no 1er cru level. May not improve with time as acid may become more apparent. Drink it cold for lovers of a rustic Chambolle-Musigny.
Update: One glass worth was leftover in bottle. Brought home and kept under vacuum in Eurocave Sowine. Drank well chilled, two days later in Riedel Vitis Pinot Noir glass. Diminished fruits aromas but unmasked mineral nose. Acid kept in check by temperature and highlighted graphite minerality on the palate.

  • Needs to breath for at least 90 minutes to open up. Nose is rich in fruit and minerals. On the palate, initially high tannins and acidity as well as red fruit. Developing to become more balanced and smooth. Nice minerals and hints of nutmeg. Medium length. Enjoyable but clearly below expectations.

(Mischief & Mayhem Chambolle-Musigny) A blend of two sites, one of 25 year-old vines planted near the road, the other of 60 year-old vines. The nose starts rather mineral with hints of cedar and dark fruit - you really need to spend a little time with the glass for it to open up with fruit, floral and even chocolate hints. This is very sophisticated in the mouth, showing very fine tannins and a perfect freshness. A good burst of fruit that's rather classy and concentrated on the mid-palate. The finish lingers, then a little like the villages Puligny provides a creamy reprise. It needs a couple of years in the cellar, but it will better an 'average' 1er cru.
