Dark inky red. Raspberry, oak, red licorice, and spice nose. Medium bodied, short up front, then cherries, a touch of pepper, very woody tannins, a bit of heat, and a medium finish. Much more red fruit than black fruit, and still too much oak, although its better integrated now.

Dark purple with a slight red tint at the edge. Jammy, woody red fruit nose, sort of merlot-ish. Some tart cherries and blackberries, but the taste is overwhelmed by the "Oak Monster", leaving a drying, woody feel on my tongue. Smooth and balanced, it was OK with dinner, but not that enjoyable on its own later.
