Oswalds, ex chateau. A perfect (!!) bottle that looks like the Mabel was printed /. Restrained, aromatic with pencil lead and cedar and a very gentle, subtle , blackberry or Cassis aroma. There are still tenants quite present, which softened over one hour. What a lovely wine, all about subtlety rather than Power.

A poor bottle really and at this stage we fear the bottle is more important than the wine. Ours was lightly off, the nose felt wrong then as it evolved it improved but then kept on coming back with even a tinge of cork. Underlying wine was healthy so good bottles of this must be very pretty. Pointless to rate

My 2013 birthday month tasting session (Extra Space, Boon Keng): Brick red with mahogany hue showing full maturity, the nose is still nice with tobacco, cedar and chalky earthiness. But the palate is flat and muted with acidity has gone perhaps long ago. After 1 hour or so, surprising the flavour profile emerged to show tobacco and rusty woody notes. Soft, mellow and clearly over the hill with structure no more holding. This has rather short finish and fully resolve tannins. Still drinkable but agree that this should be drunk much earlier.

2nd to last bottle of 12 bought in 1982 for £5.36 each. Lovely, delicate wine.
