Sommelier Journal

(Ken Wright Pinot Blanc, Willamette Valley, Oregon) Ken Wright’s Pinot Blanc is so breathtakingly good that you can’t help but be struck by how little we appreciate this mutation of the Pinot Gris grape. Then again, Wright does have a rarified touch. From the Meredith Mitchell and Freedom Hill vineyards in the coastal foothills of Willamette Valley, this Pinot Blanc exudes sweet, juicy perfumes of pear, nectarine, and drippy Santa Rosa plum. On the palate, scintillatingly crisp, tropical-fresh, lemon-lime acidity lifts the fruit to further liquid heights, overflowing its silky, fine, long, slender body. Hot Picks
