Too bad that this wine is all gone. I enjoyed remembering the experiences that I have had with this varietal on various excursions to the Finger Lakes. Foch is a basic blending wine there that gives color to the other wise light-colored reds. I remember that somewhat harsh, typical French American hybrid nose and taste. Foch and Baco Noir are the too best hybrids; but, currently Cab Franc is the hot red on the East side of Seneca Lake. Crimson rim. Almost jet black total opaqueness in the center. Average viscosity. Not much nose-some blackberry. No complexity. Not powerful. The charm of this wine is its straightforwardness. Very fruity. Tart. No tannins. short finish. Rich, rustic. It's interesting to me that this estate bottled wine comes from the Willamette Valley, from a solid Pinot producer Arlie. Noone in the Finger Lakes can handle this grape alone as a single varietal.
