  • Lots of sediment. Dark and serious. Not quite as much bright fruit as I may have remembered, but nice nonetheless.

  • Jammy fruit flavors. Long finish. A very enjoyable wine now and down the road.

  • From 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine opens with tobacco, blackberry, cassis and earthy scents. Medium bodied and fresh, this late released wine is ready to drink.

  • This is such a beautiful wine with power, elegance and grace, showcasing K-J's hill-side vineyards in the Knights Valley AVA of the Sonoma Valley. Dark purple color, deep and elegant. Nose still a little closed, but very noticeable aromas of black currant, black cherry, blackberry, plum and licorice wrapped in a layer of coffee, cedar and pencil shavings with hints of chocolate, Asian herbs and almond. This is a very young nose in an obvious left-bank Bordeaux style, a little disjointed at first but starts to integrate quickly after a little breathing time. Full-bodied wine with a little less viscosity but more elegance. On the palate, the fruit is abundant: an initial attack of black cherry, blackberry, currant and plum leads into a very well-structured mid-palate with gritty and still fresh tannins along with excellent acidity. Extremely long and balanced finish with layers upon layers of dark fruit coated with velvety tannin, showing black cherry, dark plum and blueberry, finishing with cedar, coffee, chocolate and a slight vegetal note (in a good way). This is a great effort, and surprising young for an '05. Decant for couple hours and it will age beautifully for the next 10 years to gain more integration and complexity. 93 PLUS!!

  • This was opened, poured and consumed without decanting. There are dark fruits and it is nicely balanced.
