(Dunham Trutina) #2; COLOR-dark; NOSE-a little Mr. Bubbles bath soap; dark chocolate; very kirschy; viscous; jammy; hedonistic and extracted; smells big; licorice; somewhat medicinal which is a turn off for me; smells too big for me; PALATE-slightly over oaked on the attack; big bright fruit; big wine; big intensity; black currant; blueberries; a little cigar action; the finish is kind of nice; kind of jammy; a little goopy for me; textbook big fruit wine with no secondary flavors; it's fun, but has no depth; GUESS-$40; I like this for $22 bones; GV-87+

Drinking very nicely, even now, with medium fruit, soft tannins and good body in what I have always considered a 'lighter' wine.....

Not as good as the 2005 we tried side by side. Lighter in color, still ruby-magenta, but more medium-dark than pure dark. Lovely nose of dried flowers, blackberry, simple leather notes and noticeable alcohol. Acids are more pronounced on taste, less integrated into berry complexities, and ultimately take away from the finish, which is short and indistinct as wine. It's OK, but nothing like the 2005. Wait a year, see what happens.

Nose is a little gamey and slightly Rhoneish, but definitely Bordeaux fruit and structure in the mouth, warm finish that really lingers. Still tannic and somewhat closed after a nice first hour which showed a lot of red fruit flavors.

Big nose on this with lots of dark fruit; smooth as silk and balanced; just a tad weak on the mid-palate, but this is easily overlooked amongst the other strengths; nice soft tannins on the finish. It was nicely paired with marsala chicken, but might not hold up to a chunk of beef. This was a great bargain at $16.

A touch green, but only in comparison to the massive cab monster sitting right next to it. Still, not terribly concentrated but all the better for it. Or rather, maybe just a more structural style of blend, revealing less fruit in favor of its structure.
