  • NOSE: earthy, strawberry. PALATE: farmyard, bright soft red fruits and minerals, high acidity, expansive pink pepper finish. Opened 3 hrs before drinking; opened up very well. Drunk with Chicken Cacciatora, followed by Roccola cheese. Worried it wouldn't work but impressed with the haphazard match.

  • Garnet colour in the centre to an orangey rim. Nose has lots of raspberry, red cherry syrup, a little strawberry and earth but not funky, a touch of sandalwood. Palate is more of the nose plus clove and a christmas pudding type spicy aspect. Finish has a lot of the spice and ends with a bit of orange peel and juniper berry. Light bodied, medium acid (very nice). Didn't blow me away but was an excellent wine. A little tannin left which is nice considering the age. Would've liked a bit more weight but a solid 89+
