Although I did quit buying BC a few years ago, I still have a few bottles kicking around. The color had slightly faded but still appeared vibrant. The stemmy, woody, vegetal nose wavered between interesting and annoying. This is ripe and simple. Some heat. The acid is balanced but there is a complete absence of tannin which made the fruit seem like raspberry jam. A decent ripe pinot with fresh fruit and acids but the lack of tannin was its downfall.

Right off the bat, ultra ripe on the nose, almost like a VDN. Porty. Super ripe cherry, eau de vie like. Noticeable oak. I don't know how can someone could drink that.

May have let this one go too long, seemed thinner than Iwould have expected, still some floral and fruit elements, but the heat is no longer muted and can be felt on the finisy. There is a definite polish and sophistocation, an edging towards the Burgundy style rather than the California, but it did not have enough breadth to be really exceptional for me.

Impressively integrated, complex wine full of chocolate, black cherry, mushroom, cinnamon and a hint of black olive. Smooth and sensuous mouthfeel. The finish has great length and balance, and shows just a touch of stemmy tannin. I suspect this will peak in 2-3 more years.
