Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • The cork was saturated so I feared damage. On the nose it was reticent at first but opened into quite an earthy beast with a heavy dose of oak. There were flashes of liquorice, a medicinal edge and more of that meaty element on the palate. As time went on the aniseed flavours filled out on the mid-palate. The finish was adequately long, with a good presence of savoury/tart/spicy tannins and further notes of oak. Lacking focus and fruit. Possibly an awkward dumb phase and merely needs some time. I have doubts whether this will ever come together. I just don't think it has the fruit to stand up to the oak and tannin.
