  • A: Very light yellow; medium body.
N: Buttery, sebaceous nose, more similar to what one would expect from a Marsanne than a Chenin Blanc. There's some grass notes in the background.
T: This was initially served very cold, and it came through as plain and very acidic. Paired with spicy food, it was horrible. As it warmed up to room temperature, it became much more enjoyable, especially on its own. The palate is still dominated by heat, and framed by a creamy texture, with subdued notes of lime, grass, and some bitterness.
F: Hot on the finish, with flavors of lime and grapefruit.
Overall: This seem to have less fruit and more heat than the last bottle. If in the past this could have been mistaken for a Sauvignon Blanc, now it seems to be closer to an older Chardonnay. Is it perhaps past its peak? Recommended served at room temperature, and paired with oysters.

  • This seems to have gained some weight since last tasted a year ago. Medium to full bodied, but a tad light on the palate, with subdued flavors. Nose of honey, lemons and minerals. Good mouthfeel with some glycerin, which makes me think this is higher in alcohol than the 14% stated on the label. The finish is creamy but short. Less refreshing and crisp than the bottle opened last year, but still very enjoyable. Drink before 2011.
