I've picked up about two cases of this when it has appeared on WTSO for $7/bottle (shipping included). I think this is an outstanding value for the money. It has become a de facto "house red" for us.
To start I will note I have observed some significant variations among bottles. Some bottles are require little breathing and seem ready to drink immediately. Others are decidedly more closed and require some time to open up and develop flavors. Even with time to breathe there are variations, with some bottles simply being better (more open, with stronger and more persistent presence) than other bottles.
The dominant note that I detect is sweet cherry, with some plum and some earthiness. In the mouth, with a bottle that has opened, there is a very strong fruity presentation, redolent of cherry and plum. Then tannins assert themselves, while the fruitiness continues. The finish is long and persistent, with flavors of cherry and berries continuing in combination with tannins. With the better bottles I"ve opened, I the flavors linger in my mouth for three or four minutes.
