  • First wine from this producer and probably the most enjoyable Cal Syrah I've had, a core of blackberry, essence of blackcurrants, with just nice hint of sweet fig on the nose, sweeter (than the nose would lead you to believe) dark fruit and vanilla on the palate was smooth and well integrated mouth feel with a lovely med+ finish. Drinking in prime now

  • Overall this is one of the most interesting syrahs I have ever drink. Aromas of dark plum, wintergreen/menthol/petrol and wet leaves. Wine is med/heavy body. Very long/ lingering tail

  • Muted nose of blackberries, fig paste, earth, bacon and mocha. The palate is full of brambly dark fruit flavors and a touch of kirsch sweetness with a very sophisticated and silky texture. Round mid-palate tapers off into a smooth and creamy finish of mocha and berry jam. This wine is very polished and shows tremendous restraint in its winemaking approach. I wish it had a little more depth and character, but it's a textbook example of what new world Syrah should be and it is delicious.

  • Blackberry, licorice, pepper and smoke. Very interesting Syrah, with good acidity for such a dark, lush wine. Tasted this with the K Vintners 2007 Millbrandt Vineyard Syrah, the dark, brooding type. Think of this one as its friend, you know the one that's been friends with K forever and has always played second fiddle, but at the core of it, isn't as dark or brooding, actually capable of having some fun. Long term, this is one you want to stay with, whereas the K Syrah will break your heart, guaranteed.
