2009 International Pinot Noir Celebration: Pasport to Pinot (McMinnville, Oregon): Plums all over the nose here as well as strawberries. The nose is smooth and enjoyable. The acid is sharper on the front end of this wine, and some good strawberry flavors and tannins come in late on the palate along with a light hint of bitterness. 89+

2009 International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC) Passport to Pinot (McMinnville, OR): Wow.. a lot of fruit on the nose. Smells delicious, but it's fruit city USA... fruit, fruit, fruit for days. It's good fruit though (candied cherries, strawberries, raspberries), a little bit of spice, oak funk... pretty complicated nose, and pretty darn big too. It's like candy... pure candy, on the palate. Tastes like sour berry rope (it's some kind of candy). Really really fruity, tart fruit, but it's delicious. This is the candy of the wines here so far, but it's actually nice and balanced. This could totally go higher for people who are really into this style. Very nice and balanced for the style.
