14 ct. yellow golden color. the nose unmistakably spells Gewuertz. Sweet and fragrant. On the palate there is a hint of rose petals, otherwise the wine is curiously flat and short and finishes with a bitter after taste. More interesting than pleasurable. Again: I should have opened that wine 10 years ago.

Thai lunch (Ben and Estella's place, Parramatta): Honey, caramel, slight lychee, waxy notes. Juicy, tangy, toffee, off-dry, honey, slight bitter on the finish with a little non-intrusive alcohol warmth. Sliding rapidly to full tertiary, very happy I've opened this with chums now.

Coravin fun - Alsace, Loire and Random French (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of leather, dried rose petal, with agitation earth, sweet spice and dried lychee. medium plus intensity acidity, creamy, buttery but quite fruit faded, a little lychee, turkish delight. medium plus length. drink up.

From Coravin. Aromas of Turkish delight over lychee, slight herbaceous notes, caramel/toffee, biscuit, a touch of honey and very slightly earthy notes which become more noticeable with time where as the Turkish delight and lychee fade. In the mouth it's juicy, fresh, biscuit, honey, lychee, sweet spice, still textured on the mid palate. Beautifully balanced. No fade on the palate. Long finish. Glorious.

Coravin fun - new arrivals (KC's place): From Coravin. Low intensity aromas of lychee, melon and roses, cream, vanilla and honey. Initially on the palate it's quite lightweight and then it explodes with lychees in honey syrup, crème caramel and vanilla custard. The only fault would be a slight lack of length but, at 35 years old, this is a bit of a stunner.
