  • Wow. Really nice showing and I'm surprised the drinking window here on CT ends at 2016 because this is still going strong. Really great freshness and acidity and at 15% abv on the label this was not at all cloying, heavy or hot.
Dark stewed purple fruit, smoked meat, some purple flowers. Great showing.

  • Pleasant nose of creosote and smoke. Palate of blueberry but with an underlying acetone framework that hints that the fruit is fading. If you still have I'd drink sooner rather than later

  • Decanted and let sit for half an hour. Still pretty restrained, but after 15 minutes in the glass, started to open up. Fragrant, but in a deep-forest, moist earth, way. Very ripe, very dark fruit, balanced by acidity, with a long, long finish. Lots of weight in this wine. I regret not trying this three or four years ago, to be honest (I have two more bottles after this one), but I think this wine still has a lot of life in the bottle. In the end, it doesn't even matter, but I found this wine to be much more rounded than at the outset. The last half-glass was with @FlowerPourNYC espresso brownies and what can I say? Perfetto...

  • On the way down. Nose is still nice, but there isn't much gonig on when it hits the palate. Still very drinkable, but I suspect its a mere shadow of its former self.

  • Beautiful nose of olive tapenade, bacon, boysenberry, chocolate. Rich palate with a touch of alcoholic heat.
