Community Tasting Notes (74) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Popped and poured, consumed over a period of three hours without decanting. Dark ruby colour. Black fruit, pastille, complex herbal notes, and licorice, with medium-Level acidity, firm, well-integrated tannin, and very good length. Very firmly structured, firmer than I recall from previous bottles. Will allow my next bottles to breath for some time.

  • Last bottle, alas. At its optimum now, with all the phenolic warmth of a good CdP in a good vintage. No signs of overmaturation, just lush mature fruit, leather, tobacco, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, figs. Wonderful! Drink now.

  • Still consistent with prior bottles. Popped and poured. Dark ruby colour. Red and dark fruit, complex herbal notes, complex spice notes, liquorice, chocolate, After Eight, soy sauce, and stony minerality, with medium-minus acidity, round, well-integrated tannin, and very good length. Light black tea like dryness on the finish. Medium- to full-bodied, medium-complex, with lightly warming alcohol (15% ABV). Even more open, more harmonious, and more mineral but also drier on day two. Good. Drink now, before it starts to dry out.

  • Consistent with previous bottles. Dark ruby colour. Ripe dark and red fruit, complex garrigue notes, spices, liquorice, light black tea, a touch of After Eight, soy sauce, and stony minerality, with just enough acidity, round tannin, and good length. Finishes with light black tea-like dryness. Medium- to full, and medium complex, with a lightly creamy texture and lightly warming alcohol (15% ABV). Benefits from aeration. A good CdP. I suggest to drink now and over the next six or seven years.

  • Together with a Tour Carnet 2000 this CdP was a perfect match with our grilled Wagyo Burgers, offering intense ripe fruit, garrigue, liquorice and portwine notes. Although not showing signs of tiredness consider drinking now.
