Ever the slightest bit past its peak now, but still drinking beautifully. Nice old wood and balsamic, smoky nose. Full+ maturity, soft sweet fruit, refined structure. Showing a little less power now than in the past, but very enjoyable. Drink now and over the next few years.

Light garnet to garnet color in the glass, little dusty looking. Nose of dried herbs, anise, black berries and a hint of leather. Flavors of black berries, black raspberries and minerals. Tart acidity, medium tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink now.

(Bodegas Muga Rioja Torre Muga) Group's #5 (my #4) – 46 pts.; 0, 1, 0, 1 - very dark red violet color; appealing, ripe raspberry, black cherry, berry, clove, light brett nose; tar, tart berry, black cherry palate with salinity and firm, grippy tannins; not clear it will ever resolve with any fruit left; medium-plus finish (13% alcohol)

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind Spanish Wine (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind in Spanish tasting. Mostly matured black fruit in a modern style, oaky but mostly integrated. Slightly drying finish. Tasty, but somewhat non-distinctly Rioja.

Last bottle, and sad to see it go. Had many of these over the years and the 1995 was always charming. Drink now.
