Unmarked cork. Some hints of bricking at the edges, but there is still a shimmer of ruby. Very earthy and vegetal on the nose, with some black pepper and tart cherry notes as well. On the palate, this has definitely showing some age, with some lovely forest floor and mushroom earthiness. Still showing quite some tart red fruit. A little over-oaked, perhaps, and definitely needs air to stretch out. Medium length finish, with plenty of earthy notes. Mostly resolved tannins. Reminds me more of Morey than Chambolle. Four days out, under partial vacuum in the fridge, this has become very plush and smooth (the famous "velvet glove"), though I can't quite find where the iron fist went.

(Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Bonnes Mares) Slightly bricking dark cherry red color with 1/4 inch clear meniscus; nice, tart cherry, tart raspberry, tart black cherry nose with subtle spice and sandalwood; tasty, a little tight but opening, tart cherry, cranberry, tart raspberry, mineral palate with good fruit balance; medium-plus finish
(Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Bonnes Mares) Ripe cherry, sous bois and earth nose; youthful, tart, rich, cherry, red fruit and iron palate with back bone, firm tannins; medium finish

Love the '01s, still youthful with wonderful cavey antiquey plum meets tar and tree sappy goodness.. Oolong teas, exotic spices, very clean. Nice.
