I often leave the last of 12 bottles of a red wine for longer in my cellar than the rest. This one, a simple cru bourgeois of 1996, was 15 years old. It looked like a tawny port. The nose was nice, blackberry. First it was rather acidic. Often this gets worse and worse, but this time it went away, which I do encounter more often in old wine. And then a beautiful old, almost sweet wine unfolded. Great! If you love tertiary aroma's. Although it was still full of life. I paid € 8,60 per bottle back in 1998.

Heel apart. Herinnert duidelijk aan de typische, kersachtige geur en smaak van de Verget du Sud 1998. Dat is vreemd, want die is van Carignane, Grenache en Syrah gemaakt. Na een avondje staan is dat typische minder, maar overheerst.
