  • Yellow fruits, clearly some botrytis, beautiful acidity and sweetness and a bit fat. Very beautiful wine.

  • White pit fruit, pineapple, lush and rich but with solid acidic backbone. Big but not ungainly, powerful Spatlese with plenty of sweetness but nothing cloying. A-

  • Deep golden color in the glass. Very aromatic with bottle aging quite in focus here - dried apricot, honey, candied melon, dried yellow flowers, yellow apple and a hint of petroleum. The palate tastes almost like Auslese, is quite rich and concentrated with a firm string of acidity going through the whole structure. Well-balanced with the alcohol, the acidity really keeps this wine from crashing and falling apart. Could use a bit more depth and finish, but a solid effort nonetheless.

  • From bottle with low ullage opened ?a day ago.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, golden colour. Thin legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of mandarin orange, kumquats, light ginger spice, botrytis honey. Developed.
On the palate, sweet, high acidity, low alcohol (7.5%), medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of honey, botrytis spice, kumquats, mandarin oranges, thin layer of chalky stones minerality. Long finish.
Good quality. Time to drink up though. Could this bottle be prematurely aged? Some forwards flavours and honey sweetness and botrytis that feels more like an Auslese, although this seems to lack depth and lacks the rich minerality associated with this site.
From the Halenberg vienyard in the village of Monzingen in Nahe.
Understand that noble rot is a frequent occurence here.

  • Ok - this is serious. Top 5 wines of the year for sure. Golden but not too deep. The nose is a perfect white peach dipped in honey. Is there some wet clay in the background? Young, vibrant and lively on the palate but boy does it pack a sophisticated flavor wallop. So deep so good. None of the Moselle apple, this is all grape goodness. A benchmark that will live for decades. (97)
