  • Appearance: Medium Ruby, with slight garnet hints.

Nose: Very expressive nose with notes of dried black cherries and raspberries surrounded by balsamic notes of Mediterranean dried herbs and spices, tar and barnyard in the background.

Palate: Bold and densely structured wine with a velvety texture, initially the aromas of black and red cherries linger the palate , then the spices and a meaty note come in, combining with a wide array of aromas(mainly black olives and licorice ) enriching the averall complexity. Finish is long and refined.

Final Considerations: This wine at this age displays huge concentration and combines it with freshness and acidity , achieving a nice balance, quality is just lovely. This wine is very enjoyable right now but there’s a slightly bitter note from tannins and oak that still needs to be “processed” , I think this wine will be amazing in 5-10 years.

  • Thinking back and reviewing my TNs, I haven't been this enthusiastic about a wine for over a year (January 2023 with a 2009 Chateau Smith Haut Lafite). I love this CNP. I didn't get the barnyard funk on the nose that other raters have mentioned. I got vanilla, oak, licorice and baking spices on the nose. The palate was delicious fruit: black cherries, ripe raspberries, figs. Outstanding integration of acid and tannins evidenced by the fact that I didn't think about either characteristic. Not sweet or cloying but a pleasant explosion of fruit and flavor. Had with friends and a cheese platter after dinner (Comte, Gouda and Cotswold) with JL and YL and wife. Prep for a Rhone focused wine dinner at a local restaurant later this week.

  • After nearly 20 years in the bottle this Rhône blend did not disappoint!!! Aged to perfection in a good friends cellar it was ready to drink with rounded flavors of fruit without the edges a lessor bottle or younger French wine might present! Wonderful!!

  • Light barnyard nose swept away by juicy, dense black fruit, licorice, black olives and grilled fennel sausage on the palate. Ripe vintage evident but not dismaying. PnP'd, but showed best about an hour in. Glorious.

  • Theres red berries on the deep nose, but also pepper and herbs. The palate is massive and concentrated but keeps its balance. Theres tons of licorice and black fruit and a lot of structure and dryness in the long finish, but also sweet fruit to balance. This has developed quite a bit, since i had it 2-3 years ago. A special and unique wine.
