A tell-tale côte-rôtie with olives, hanged meat, all the fixers, lacking (compared to, say, Jamet) only the extremely concentrated, direct and vibrant fruit. Still, this is a classic wine, drinking a point - many years to go. #Kandestederne

My first experience with the appellation and unfortunately I didn’t take notes. Very much like burgundy on the nose and nicely structured on the palette. Very keen to try more

Opened seven hours prior to drinking. One hour slow oxidation. A medium ruby core fading to a pale ruby outer edge. There’s a lot going on here. Black peppercorns, blood, bovine skin, black plum skin, black cherry, lilacs, liquorice, wood spice, hedgerow, white smoke, roasted vine tomatoes, and balsamic. A supremely layered, aromatic, and inviting nose. Less complex on the palate but what it lacks in complexity it more than makes up for in texture, which is silken and refined. In terms of the profile the fruit is primarily tart with wild red berries, there’s a touch of sour cherry, red liquorice, and black pepper. An excellent showing.
