Sous bois, old raspberry, notes of rotten strawberry, mushroom; palate is balanced, sustained, medium bodied, slightly wild, lively, spicy, very extended, rather full, surprisingly good

This was a really delicious bottle. Warm sappy fruit and just enough backbone to keep in even on the palate. I found it to be so tasty, that I polished the whole btl over an evening--something I have only done once prior (98 beaucastel two summers back).... So, as the wine seems to be at perfect pitch, I will be getting around to the remaining btls soon.

Pale red color, with no hint of brown at the rims. Subtle and complex flavors, sweet fruit, followed by fine tannins, and a lingering finish.

Pinot Days (San Francisco): Lovely balanced nose with fruit, balanced palate, structured but drinking well; finish is lovely. 92-93

99 cote de nuits premier cru retrospective (michael, winnetka IL): nose: very pretty and light with tones of black truffles, earthen notes, brown spices, floral tones, and bits of sweet raspberries with a touch of cherry
taste: nice and silky with black truffles, earth tones, raspberries, and brown spices
overall: a very pretty wine with a touch of class and refinement. Nice rounded black truffle attack and raspberry finish
