  • Lots of cherries and strawberries on the nose and palette, some pepper also. Needs light food.

  • Red cherry and licorice aromas with a distinct sneaker rubber smell. More of the red cherries and some strawberry Twizzlers on the palate with some good pepper spice. Decent tannins and acidity too. It's okay, but it definitely isn't exciting. It's

  • Given the weakness of the vintage, these wines have been a bit hit or miss. This was a hit. Deep purple-plum color. Notes of plum, blackberr and some garrigue. Rather primary, but that doesn’t take away from the enjoyment. Rustic on the finish just as you might want for this wine. However, it’s also a tad green on the finish with a bit of heat. 13.5% alc. Used in a marinade for veal chops. Recommended.

Wednesday, August 24, 2005 Oh yeah baby! Fruit on the attack and carrying to the finish without missing a beat. Raspberry, plum, cassis, coffee and toast. It has it all and in spades. I’ll hold my others for some time. This has loads of promise. 13.5% alc.

Flavors of plum and spice on the attack with maybe some cassis peeking in; pepper on the finish. Unfortunately not much in between. It clearly lacks the heft, depth and weight of earlier vintages. None of the smoked meats and complexity of past bottles. 13.5% alc. Just by itself (which may explain why it didn’t please as much as an earlier bottle last July.
Wednesday, February 22, 2006 For a 2002 Rhone/Languedoc, this has performed fairly well. But it is either fading or shutting down. Probably won’t hold the last bottle long enough to know. DDB pulled this while I was at Rednecks and Red Rhones. We enjoyed the balance of it with the leftover portion of a roast chicken.

  • Drank 11/22/06 - enjoyed smooth, fruity, a little thin WS - (89) Firm and focused, with bright flavors of red cherry and anise, with some smoky notes as well. Creamy finish is filled with vanilla and spice elements.
