I'm pretty oak sensitive, but I did not find the overwhelming oak noted below - some, for sure, but it's pretty well knit into the whole. Classic SRH syrah, though maybe starting to dry out a bit (which seems early). Decent fruit, low/moderate acidity, plenty of tannin - none of it particularly becoming more than its parts. Better with food. Not sure this is going anywhere more interesting (could be wrong, though).

Hey, you want some wine with that oak?? Wow, the oak on this is seriously WAY too much! Very strong oak flavor upon opening that did not diminish with 2 hour decant. Even 3 days after opening, the oak had only partially softened. After the woodiness left my tongue, I could pick out some flavors of plum, blueberry and a bit of leather. Not sure if this will get better with time. Even if the oak subsides, the remaining fruity flavors are nothing special.

very fruity, with a bit of earthiness. A little too sweet, with some raisin flavors. Short finish. 14.9% abv.
