This is really one of the most fantastic domestic roses out there. Lovely nose of tropical flowers, strawberries and a touch of cotton candy. Taste shows a great balance of full, ripe watermelon and strawberries, with a touch of grapefruit citrus out of the finish. This is one of the most well balanced roses I have come across, and really is just a pleasure to drink from start to finish.

Summer arrived early in Santa Cruz today so we popped this rosé this afternoon and it was great. I love the salmon color, which reminds me of the fine French Bandol rosé wines that this is modeled after. Citrus and tropical fruits from start to finish but not overly sweet or cloying. Great stuff. We've only got one more bottle of this and summer hasn't even started yet. :(

Weekend in the Santa Ynez Valley; 3/27/2009-3/30/2009 (Solvang, Los Olivos, Lompoc, and surround areas): While technically, this is a Grenache Gris, the tasting room people told us that they have not gotten approval to bottle it as such yet, so it becomes a rose. The nose is like sticking your nose in a bushel of tropical flowers. Very aromatic for a rose. Rich, yet it maintains a light bodied mouthfeel with tastes of watermelon, a bit of strawberry and flowers. Interesting salmon coloring is quite entrancing. Really wonderful stuff.

Santa Barbara Wine Tasting Weekend; 3/27/2009-3/30/2009 (Solvang, Lompoc, etc): Tasted in a flight at the Trio tasting room. 13.4% abv. A nice salmon color with citrus and pineapple scents. Reminds me of a nice Bandol Rosé. This will be a fantastic summer sipper.
