Wow. This is a New World wine striving to be a Bordeaux. Dark and ripe showing the heat of the 2001 season, the blend of Cab, Merlot and Cab Franc strut their stuff. Dark brambly fruit, minerality and chocolate are on the mid palate. Some olive and oak notes show up on the finish. Good QPR for the under $40 sticker price. The North Fork potato fields made way to a worthy successor.

Blackberry, dark cherry with herbaceous and slightly spicy nose. Dull ruby color. Nice full fruit reigning back the merlot pruney-ness with the wood and herbal cabernet franc flavors. Vanilla in finish.

Long Island Wine's VS. The World... Who was the winner? You will be surpriced (Paumanok Vineyards, North Fork, Long Island, New York): Stop the Press bat man - Read all about it - 01 Paumanok blend beats 98 Pavie and 95 Ducru in a blind tasting.. Is it true you ask? Yes it is. This wine had its guns blazing tonight and took down all the competition in this flight. Easily accessible fruit and open for business this wine drank lovely. With some sweeter tannin’s than the other LI wines from the mid 90's it had some dark fruit and lovely chocolate tones. I wouldn't have believed it unless I was there. Great job Charles and thanks..
