WineKnurd, Phredd & Viking60 Impromptu Tasting (Knurd's House Wake Forest NC): Super funky bordering full on manure, which fades to sweaty socks with hints of pomegranate buried underneath. Ready for that next glass yet? Air only allows the manure to blow off but the earthy-funk stays; palate is very closed and tightly structured. Even a a full day in the bottle doesn't do much to smooth out the structure or bring out any more fruit. Food did nothing as well, though did highlight the acidity in the wine. B- (83) eval for me.

Quite dark, again, a little bricking on the very edge but barely transparent throughout. The nose is barnyard and sheep butt all the way. Can barely get any fruit at all past that sweat sock nastiness, maybe a touch of red currant. The palate is surprisingly sweet at the start, but again progresses to mostly tannin. More juicy and smoother than the Gouges, this is still not exactly stunning wine. I like it a little bit more than the Gouges, but we're still not in the range where I would seek this out again. The price is a third of the Gouges, which is a stroke in its favor.

very closed and acidic, did have some cherry and spice. I would drink up if you have it because I don't think it will last but then again I could be wrong and maybe it needs 2 more years.
