Community Tasting Notes (15) Avg Score: 90.9 points

  • A: med garnet, lots of bricking
N: earth, mushroom, ripe red mature cherry and strawberry, smoke, sweet tabac, dried herbs, smoke
P: dry, high acidity, high fully integrated smooth tannins, med (+) body, 14.5% ABV
C: outstanding = perfectly balanced fruit and perfect tannins, pronounced complexity, med (+) intensity, pronounced concentration, long finish on mature red cherry and tertiary notes. Elegant, powerful, full range of primary-tertiary, perfect structure, absolutely fantastic. Drink now, at its peak. Wish I had more of this!

  • Comprehensive Tenuta delle Terre Nere (Chicago, IL): Desiccated and drying out, with the fruit showing quite pruney. Par for the course for the older Terre Neres today.

  • Packed with warm strawberry fruit but is also some age with scorched earth and mushrooms. There is a beautiful depth of flavor and a solid acidity leaving a med-long aftertaste.
The tannins are almost fully resolved and the wine appears to be fully mature. I would recommend drinking this in the next few years while it still has a touch of fruit left.
A lovely and expressive wine! Loved it! From MG

  • Don't know how to describe this exactly. The bottle wasn't off but it didn't taste right. Bricking. Sweet but no fruit, almost a touch syrupy. That said, everyone who had some finished their glass so it was drinkable. Just not what I was expecting. With 3 more bottles remaining, I will withhold judgment. Maybe just a weird bottle.

  • Medium-heavy bodied, ruby red. Full fruit -- dark cherries, blackberries, forest floor. Well-stuctured with a long finish. This was a very full, rich wine, and could have lasted for another couple of years. Delicious.
