Eight Burgundies at a Confrerie wine tasting at the French Embassy (Wellington, New Zealand): Nice ruby colour. Aromas of red berry fruits, warm earth, spice and a touch of tobacco. On palate, the Gevrey character comes through with red and black fruit, leather saddle, cooked meats, earth and a feral element. Nice fine grained tannins and oak integrated. There also seems some evolution, a little forest floor. A forward 2007, with reasonable structure and good acids, attractive now, if a little linear. However, probably not for the long haul.

A bit one-dimensional, but pure, smooth, and attractive.
Ready.
